Sandblasting hall or sandblasting container: which suits your business?

Permanent sandblasting hall or mobile sandblasting container? A comparison by workpiece size, location, flexibility and effort, with all SAPI formats from CORE to JUMBO.

Sandblasting hall or sandblasting container: which suits your business?

Both solutions blast large workpieces in an enclosed room with dust extraction and abrasive recovery. The difference lies in size, location and flexibility.

The sandblasting hall

A sandblasting hall is a walk-in room for workpieces that do not fit into a blast cabin: steel structures, tanks, railway wagons, ship sections or wind tower segments. SAPI builds custom halls 3 to 100 m long, 2 to 20 m wide and 2.5 to 15 m high, or as a preconfigured CORE sandblasting hall in three fixed sizes.

  • Strengths: practically any size, high throughput, multi-operator use, cranes, rail carts or sliding roof possible
  • Requirements: level, load-bearing concrete floor, compressed air and power (400 V / 50 Hz), space in a factory hall or weather protection during installation
  • Installation: CORE halls usually 2 to 3 weeks after delivery, custom halls 3 to 12 weeks depending on size

The sandblasting container

A sandblasting container is delivered ready for operation and can be transported directly to where it is needed. This means that even large or permanently installed components can be blasted on site, without transport to an external plant.

  • BASIC ONE: compact, predefined container for getting started
  • BASIC TWO: two containers side by side, blasting chamber and separate technical room
  • BASIC ONE PLUS: two containers one behind the other for a long blasting room
  • JUMBO: much more interior space, freely configurable, for example 9 × 7 × 3.5 m
  • Custom: dimensions, equipment and automation to suit the project, up to a blasting robot

The decision in four questions

  1. How large is your largest workpiece? If it fits into a container, this is often the faster solution. If it is longer, wider or heavier, there is no way around a hall.
  2. Will the location stay the same? If you plan to move or want to work on construction sites and in shipyards, a container is the better fit.
  3. How much will you blast? The hall is designed for continuous operation with several operators, with filters of over 40,000 m³/h.
  4. How quickly do you need it? Containers and CORE halls are predefined and quickly available. Custom halls need more planning, but fit exactly.

Not sure? Send us the dimensions and weight of your workpieces, and we will recommend the right solution.
